Computer Resource

The program has computer rooms and support cores in different research laboratories where it is possible to find computers with access to World Network, several indexers and to CAPES journals. The program also provides remote access (VPN) to search and retrieval systems of articles from the library/UFBA.
Through the link http://www.pergamum.bib.ufba.br/pergamum/biblioteca/index.php it is possible to consult online the availability of copies of interest titles.
The academic production developed at UFBA is disseminated through the Internet on a page called Repositório Institucional (Institutional Repository) (https://repositorio.ufba.br/ri/). On this page you can see several publications, which can be searched through the title or unit. It is also possible to access all journals of UFBA in portal periodicals UFBA (http://www.portalseer.ufba.br/).

Library

The Sectorial libraries were unified by library system of Federal University of Bahia (SIBI), supplementary organ (created by resolution 03/09 of the University Council), responsible for the systemic functioning of the libraries of UFBA, in order To support the development of research, teaching and extension (http://www.sibi.ufba.br).
The SIBI collection is fully computerized, allowing access to the information centers of Brazil and the world. The UFBA has policies to update the bibliographic collection to obtain a good level of performance. Basic Guidelines summarised:
  • Consignment of annual resources in the economic-financial planning, to meet the demand arising from the natural institutional growth, the creation of new courses and/or new classes;
  • Meetings with teachers and students for indication of titles of basic bibliography of the disciplines of the course or related areas, followed, in the elaboration of the lists, the references adopted by ABNT.
  • Survey of statistics on the demand of the titles available on the shelves to assess the degree of acceptance among users;
  • Exchange with publishers and bookstores, with request for copies in consignment regime, for knowledge of the faculty;
  • Concluding agreements with similar institutions, with a view to exchanging books and periodicals and exchange of library management experiences;
  • Invitations to publishers and bookstores to use internal living spaces, with exhibition of books, magazines and bibliographical material;
  • Annual evaluation of the cataloging system and layout of the collection on the shelves, in order to optimize the services.
  • On dates fixed by the rectory, each course coordinator provides the library with the relationship of the material needed for its teaching, research and extension activities.
